Senior Manager over a new category launch. My teams built the Pharmacy Fulfillment layer, deliver promise and clinical promise systems. Combining the strict HIPAA regulations with the Amazon retail systems took an extensive amount of problem solving and software changes. Heavy emphasis has been on working with the business and external teams to define the right product and build a roadmap and plan to get there. • Built a team of 20 developers and 2 managers in 4 months by attracting internal talent from across Amazon. We built Amazon Lending from scratch and it is now operating in the US, Japan, UK, India, and China and has lent >$7Billion in 6 years.Accomplishments:• Took a low performing, overly cautious team and turned them into a team of leaders who show the kind of ownership expected in Amazon which resulted in the promotion of 10 of the developers within 2 years and the team size growing 8x within the same time frame. • Expanded our system from the US into Japan, UK, and India including being the only Seattle team member on the ground in Tokyo and UK for our launches to work side by side with the developers and business. As a result, each country launched without a single high severity issue and issued their first loan within 4 hours of going live.• After seeing firsthand how different our customers were in other countries, I created the new Customer Experience team to focus solely on the customer and how we are interacting with them. Led multiple “Seller Juries” to get feedback and incorporate that feedback into our system in the US and in Japan. This resulted in 12 new launches in 2015 and a 25% increase in Seller adoption.• Created an environment to “Work Hard and Have Fun”. Even with Amazon’s high attrition rate, my teams had 0 attrition in over a year and we constantly get contacted by SDEs on other teams who want to come work with Lending.• Designed an innovative solution to provide a quick turn launch in India for the Lending team. By deeply understanding the business approach, I streamlined the business and tech solution to simplify it. This resulted in a new country launch in only 2 months and had 40% adoption in the first 30 days.
