I was hired as MEO to lead a senior-level team providing expertise to maintain and improve engineering operations for fast-surface craft and subsea vehicles at Hamworthy Barracks, Poole. I am responsible for the management and maintenance of fifty fast-surface fleet craft, ensuring the ability to deploy worldwide within 3 hours for sensitive, mission-critical counter-terrorism activities in support of the UK Government commitment.◼️ Technical Advisor to a project team developing a craft platform to reduce the severity and instance of whole-body shock impact injuries. Succeeded in producing proposal for a fully operational, air-deliverable craft, incorporating ten years additional craft life. ◼️ Led project to transfer all maintenance activities to Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS), enabling more effective allocation of responsibilities, establishing audit trail to assist troubleshooting, eliminating debate around duty-holder construct and reducing number of LTIs due to equipment failure. ◼️ Supported Leading Hands to achieve promotion from junior non-commissioned roles to senior non-commissioned officer roles, setting objectives and providing mentoring for fitness training and interpersonal skills development. 3 Petty Officers achieved promotion over a 12-month period.◼️ Recommended, led and mentored Section Chief to achieve promotion to Warrant Officer.

I commenced my Navy career as an Engineering Mechanic at HMS Raleigh, progressed to an Apprentice at HMS Sultan, achieving rapid promotion leading to current role as MEO (Warrant Officer 1st Class Engineering Technician) at a Tier 1 operational unit, delivering marine engineering expertise in support of UK national security objectives.

I was hired as Squadron Engineering Officer to ensure the operational capability and sustainability of eight vessels within the 2nd Minesweeping Squadron, Portsmouth, delivering guidance, leadership and engineering expertise to all staff within the squadron, approximately 200 personnel, and overseeing engineering activities for all eight vessels as they moved through a 6-month force generation cycle in preparation for 6-month operational deployment, including refits, repairs and testing during dormant periods. ◼️ Rewrote operational documentation for Hunt-class vessel standing orders, establishing consistency and best practice standards, introducing improvements to vessel propulsion / hydraulics. ◼️ Led targeted training for under-performing crew to aggressive timescales, enabling all personnel to achieve standards required with no delay to mission-critical deployment.

As Marine Engineering Officer (Executive Warrant Officer) I managed the Engineering Department for the HMS Middleton, a Mine Counter-Measures Vessel. I led a team of 15 direct reports in the maintenance of all onboard propulsion and auxiliary systems, and was Chair of the onboard Health and Safety team, with welfare responsibility for 30 onboard personnel. ◼️ Successfully expedited critical repairs to a Hunt-class mine countermeasures vessel to aggressive timescales, avoiding delays to mission-critical operations. Achieved a Herbett Lott Efficiency Award for engineering skills and Fleet Commanders commendation (2* award from 2nd Sea Lord / Vice Admiral).◼️ Led project to repair 3 vital systems of operational warship, successfully delivering repairs 1-day earlier than allocated, enabling vessel to complete mission-critical operations. ◼️ Oversaw the successful decommissioning of the ‘HMS Atherstone’, a Hunt-class mine countermeasures vessel, ensuring the vessel remained in a state of dormant required readiness for future commissions.◼️ Successfully sea-trained inexperienced crew following failed assessment, encouraging a collaborative, knowledge-sharing approach that resulted in crew passing external assessment and enabled them to form a united and cohesive team prior to deployment. ◼️ Returned the oldest ship within the Royal Navy to the UK from Bahrain to tight time constraints, refitting and repairing vessel en-route. Successfully navigated 6000Nm in a 6-week period, through the Suez Canal without an escort, to arrive as scheduled 2 days before Christmas.

As Infrastructure Manager, I was responsible for the operation, maintenance, availability, security and custody of all engineering equipment, systems and supporting documentation for the entire unit of the Royal Marines Tamar, Plymouth, home to 1st Assault Group Royal Marines. I led a team of 30 non-deployed direct reports in the maintenance of 16 Landing Craft.◼️ Led development of proposal for procurement of 200tn capable boat lift to safely remove vessels from the water. Oversaw delivery and installation of equipment, creation of safety documentation and Hazardous Operations support documents. ◼️ Undertook intensive study / research to become SME for operation of newly procured equipment, then created and delivered training programme.

I was hired as Senior Engineering Instructor, responsible for managing the Upkeep Management Maintenance System for all Squadron craft and leading and instructing the engineering requirements for 16 Royal Marines Landing Craft.◼️ Successfully wrote documentation for new hydraulics control system, including detailed sections on new jet propulsion system. Became SME and delivered training and knowledge to Craft Operators◼️ Led Design for Change proposal for single fuel policy for landing craft.

As Maritime Interdiction Senior Technician, I was responsible for managing a team maintaining an arduously used fleet of 26 craft at high readiness alert to deploy worldwide in support of UK Counter Terrorism Group. I collaborated with equipment manufacturers to develop and improve engine reliability and efficiency. Additionally, as Building Manager for the maintenance workshop, I led the implementation of safe working practices, including Risk and COSHH management.◼️ Produced feasibility analysis for research and development options for a new vessel with outlying / inboard engines, designed to replace the current fleet of maritime interdiction assets. ◼️ Led transformative project to improve durability and robustness of engines, increasing the life of engines to >1500 hours without failure, from a previous failure point of 15 – 50 hours.
