Freelance Field Ecologist

I am a survey coordinator for BrumBats, facilitating timed tetrad surveys and training survey volunteers throughout Birmingham and the Black Country. I also undertake advanced bat surveys including bat box checks, mist netting, harp trapping, endoscope surveys and sound analysis. I have several years experience handling and identifying UK bat species, training survey volunteers and undertaking field surveys in an urban setting.

Within my role I provided specialist technical support both individually and part of a team to engineers, sales representatives and customers through visits to customer sites, emails and telephone calls. My role was very demanding and customer driven to find quick, inventive and elegant solutions to problems other people cannot solve, whether it be repairs or new installations, nationally or internationally in high stress situations. This role has led me to communicate with people of various age groups and nationalities on a global scale in different ways. I was also required to deliver in house training on products, theory and problem solving to technicians who were employed by Avery. I planned the structure of these courses and delivered them myself. The training ranged anywhere from a basic day course to several weeks of training. Although my role was very demanding I found my time at Avery’s very rewarding in developing myself as a professional.
