Senior Software EngineerGe Healthcare Nov 1998 - PresentChicago, UsI was hired in 1997 by Marquette Medical Systems, which was shortly thereafter acquired by GE Healthcare. In 1998, I was working on a fantastic system called MUSE, which is a multi-modality (ECG, Holter, Cath, etc.) data analysis and storage system. After that, I spent some some time working on a DICOM image archive called ImageVault. Then I was the Lead System Designer for a DICOM image viewer that we affectionately called Shanghai. Since about 2002, I've been working on the Mac-Lab/CardioLab (ML/CL), which is a great Hemodynamic/EP recording system. I've learned enough about cath and EP labs to know that I don't want to have a cath procedure, and I *really* don't want to have an EP procedure. I've primarily worked on interfaces to the ML/CL system, including interfaces to the x-ray system, Cardiovascular Information System (CVIS), and ultrasound system. I have developed workflow enhancements to make usage in the cath and EP labs easier, revised the data storage and management component, and helped develop a user tracking mechanism. I also work on anything with the term "DICOM" in it.

Software EngineerMarquette Medical Systems (Mei) Mar 1997 - Nov 1998In my short time with Marquette Medical Systems, formerly known as Marquette Electronics, Inc. (MEI), I worked on a fantastic system called MUSE, which is a multi-modality (ECG, Holter, Cath, etc.) data analysis and storage system. I was not on the MUSE project long enough to make a significant contribution, but I did get to work with the amazing MEI team that developed MUSE from the ground up, and that was a great experience. Thanks much to that great team (especially Mark, Carol, Dan, Laura, Rich, Brenda, Bruce x 2, Tom, Kurt, Pat, and Ed) for taking me in. GE acquired Marquette Medical Systems in 1998. RIP, MEI.

Software EngineerFrontier Technologies Jun 1992 - Mar 1997UsThis was my first job out of school. Lots of hours, lots to learn, and lots of great people. Most of my time there was spent working on a product called SuperTCP, which included a wonderful TCP/IP stack (back in the day when Windows didn't include one), the first Winsock implementation for Windows, e-mail client and server, FTP client and server, NNTP news reader, telnet, TN3270, Web browser (featuring Gopher!), print server, and NFS. Yes, kids, there was a time when Windows didn't include a Web browser, e-mail client, and print server as part of the OS. Eventually, Frontier also added a web server and an offline search tool called CyberSearch for people with slow dial-up connections to use while they waited for cable modems and the invention of Google. Mostly I worked on the e-mail and FTP server components, the Web browser, TN3270, and the tool that created our installation media called RelBuild. I wish I could list all of the great people that I worked with in my time at Frontier, but my memory isn't that good and I would leave too many out.
