I love doing maintenance and support. It's an unusual position for a software engineer to take as most of us love green field development and working on new stuff but solving a client's problem is like a mystery to me. The client logs a ticket and it's very satisfying to track down the problem code and fix the problem. I like talking to the customers and seeing how they actually use the software day to day and it's very gratifying to know that I had a part in making it possible to do their business.During my time at Teradata, I have been instrumental in the success of Teradata's Customer Interaction Manager application. I have worked with clients to migrate from the windows native software to the web application. I have worked to ensure the success of upgrades from one version of the web application to the other in order to meet critical go-live dates. I have worked to provide workaround for software issues to ensure timely sound outs of important marketing campaigns. However, the process doesn't stop with the resolution of the client's issue. It's important take back lessons learned and apply them to the current code base in order to reduce the cost of resolving future issues.
