During a period of extraordinary disruption in the banking industry, the Media Relations team supported Westpac’s response to the Banking Royal Commission, AUSTRAC regulatory action, and broader COVID and natural disasters impacting the bank. • Key role responsibilities • Leading all media monitoring, analysis, research, and executive & board reporting; management of distribution channels; and record keeping. Producing briefing materials for senior executives. Writing proactive media releases. Media pitching and strategy across community and corporate foundation work. Led multi-stakeholder transition to new media-monitoring supplier.___________✍️ Responsible for producing weekly reports summarising upcoming external communications and potential issues impacting Westpac’s reputation. Developed to become one of the most relied upon reference and planning documents for senior leadership, widely praised for being succinct, well structured, and accurate. 🙌 Identified ways to improve Westpac’s media monitoring and internal reporting capability. Consulted with colleagues on priorities for change and led the multi-stakeholder transition to - and integration of - a new media-monitoring service provider. This months-long project delivered faster, more reliable alert systems, automated processes, and greater ability to self-service; ensuring Westpac Media Relations was better prepared to respond to media, track performance, and keep senior stakeholders informed.🤝 Successfully collaborated with Westpac Chief Economist and marketing team to implement a targeted media distribution strategy for economic reports.
