Maintain moderate sized production system that provides services for millions of users across the U.S. Admin Linux, in whatever flavours we need, and PostgreSQL databases. Capacity planning, system performance monitoring, and installs / upgrades are a large part of my job, and I do like to do it. It takes up a lot of my time, but it feels good when a system works and works well.All I can say is that I am surrounded by agile super-stars, and it feels good to make servers for them.

I had a long career here. I started as production workstation support for about 30 users and about 150 workstations and servers. Divisions like QA had dozens of machines for testing at the time.Helped implement a system of making images of drives for testing, known clean masters, and then having other drives ready to go in caddies and reduced the number of machines and the turn around time on testing under an OS / version combo.Also helped a lot of people fix their windows machines, Windows 3.11 through NT 4.0. I gave up on Windows after NT 3.51, because NT 4.0 made my servers unstable, and it never really got addressed or fixed, in my opinion.After that I moved on to building an internal intranet site used by sales, customer service, telephone operators, etc, all custom-apped for each need, and fast and on a single small pair of servers. I worked with so many wonderful people there, and I learned a ton from them.
