After volunteering for a secondment to the purchasing team I quickly established myself as a key member of the team. An internal move to secure ongoing employment due to impending move of production to the US, duties were to process the spares and consumables orders, ensuring all orders are processed the same day and to deal with any related customer queries in a prompt and professional manner, liaising with staff at all levels to achieve the desired results. Started as a trainee technician then worked in many areas of production, learning skills from wire preparation to PCB manufacture through to the complete build, optical alignment, test and repair of a range of scientific instrumentation. Showing a positive attitude and aptitude for the job gaining the respect of my peers, I was identified as a high potential employee and was promoted through supervisory level to Production Manager of the department where I was responsible for a team of 8 people and my main duties were to ensure the production schedule was adhered to, accommodating any increase in demand due to improved sales, controlling the stock, offering technical assistance to the team and dealing with any personnel issues as they arose.
