I am a civil litigator who regularly appears in state and federal court, both at the trial court and appellate level. I represent large corporations and financial institutions, small businesses, and individuals in a variety of matters. I pride myself on being a good listener and communicator who works with – and not simply for – his clients. In 2015, I was appointed to the Hearing Committee for the Board of Bar Overseers (BBO) of the Supreme Judicial Court for a three-year term. In 2018, I was appointed for a second three-year term. I have been a member of the Boston Bar Association (BBA) Business and Commercial Litigation Steering Committee since 2017. Among other things, the Committee (a) organizes and presents educational programs, and (b) comments on proposed changes to rules. Representative engagements include the following: represent broker-dealer in case involving breach of distribution agreement by national insurer; represented national bank in trade secret/conversion actions against former employees and competitor, resulting in favorable settlement; represented LLC and manager-members in alleged freeze out, and successfully cross-moved for preliminary injunction, thereby preventing ousted plaintiff from competing with LLC; obtained summary judgment for law firm client in dispute with former partner over post-separation contingent fee; represented hospital in a dispute over royalties due under a “most favored nations” clause in a patent license agreement (resulting in the largest settlement reported by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly for 2009); defended engineering firm in "Big Dig" wrongful death case, leading to favorable settlement; and successfully defended Caymanian bank and brokerage firm in action alleging, inter alia, fraud and securities violations, with case being dismissed on jurisdictional grounds.
