Park Village Pines is a faith-based nonprofit that specializes in assisted living, specialized care and memory care in one modern facility. PVP provides excellent and affordable senior housing alternatives guided by Christian principles with the goal of being a superior continuum-of-care resource for our residents.

•Oversee operations for 450-plus member local trade association of builders, contractors and associates supporting the home building industry in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek areas.•Project manager for The Marketplace, a 23-home residential development in partnership with the City of Kalamazoo and the Kalamazoo County Land Bank Authority through HUD’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program grant.•Manager of the Battle Creek chapter of the association, handling meetings, events and operations of the 60-member chapter of the local trade association. •Director of the Home Expo, the association’s largest event and net revenue source with 100,000 square feet of exhibitor space and nearly 400 booth spaces for local businesses to showcase their products and services to approximately 16,000 visitors during the event.•Event Coordinator for several smaller events at the association, including golf outing, builder bash, education classes and membership drives.

Worked with businesses in the newspaper, magazine and broadcasting industries to improve their operations and bottom line. Duties included all facets of the operations, from working on billing systems to improve collections and accounts receivable to providing sales training to advertising departments to increase revenues. Brokered several deals on media operations, including newspaper, magazine, specialty publications and broadcast operations. Additional duties included developing business plans and appraisals for select media companies, hosting informational seminars and presenting at national conventions.

Editor and publisher of daily newspaper, TMC publication, shopper and five weekly newspapers. Responsible for the entire operation of a six-day daily newspaper and its website, a weekly non-subscriber publication, six paid weekly newspapers and a shopper. Highlights include increasing retail advertising sales during second half of 2000 by 34 percent over the previous year’s period. Profitability grew equally during this period. Also trimmed payroll substantially and began implementation of reorganization plan to consolidate duplicate functions between the weekly and daily operations.

Editor and publisher of group of 12 weekly newspapers, two shoppers and a monthly publication in three midwestern states. Built weekly newspaper group from original purchase of a pair of community weeklies with annual sales of $130,000 to 15 publications with approximately 50 full- and part-time employees and annual sales of $1.8 million. Developed advertising clusters with weekly newspaper groups around competitive markets with small daily and shopper operations. Grew sales by developing advertising streams outside hometown areas through clustering weekly newspapers together for an integrated advertising package in neighboring, larger communities. Also, developed supplemental specialty advertising publications revolving around tourism and local festivals that allowed for expanded circulation models for advertisers.

Responsibilities included entire operation of a daily newspaper and weekly shopper publications with a staff of 29 employees. Duties included overseeing advertising, editorial, business, production, printing and circulation departments in an absentee-ownership situation. Recorded substantial revenue and profit gains during this period while continuing improvement in the quality of publications’ content.
