Participated in a legacy modernization and integration effort in July 2019 to help envision, define, and build new UX, governance and maintenance enhancements into an existing business capability that provides rule engine and repository like law coding features, built, and hosted in a legacy lending stack. This was a full lifecycle, full stack effort to deliver an MVP1 into production, using mostly Angular and Express on the front-end, prototyped in Azure, ported to OpenShift, leveraging new REST services built in MuleSoft, integrating with legacy IBM interfaces over MQ. Helped envision, define, architect and began prototyping a to-be solution for a new origination and lending channel. We began leveraging agile processes to deep dive into a recently developed cloud based lending platform, promoting reuse, standards, cloud, and best practices to build new features and capabilities to support the new lending channel being envisioned. The effort leveraged a hybrid of AWS, Azure, and on-prem technologies and tooling to provide a collection of REST interfaces for near real-time partner integration, on-prem integration for lender decisioning and a host of batch-oriented data interchanges necessary to exchange various EDI data feeds for analytics, reporting and latent processing.Participating in a near-term onboarding of a new origination partner, growing an existing implementation built for similar business processes. Helped identify necessary features and enhancements to satisfy business and technical gaps. Participating in the design and development of legacy, present day and next generation molecular and non-molecular diagnostics instrumentation, systems and products.Worked on development of instrument configuration and log parsing subsystem (RSS) used to integrate medical instrumentation, fetch operational log files, parse and search for KPI’s and deliver events and metrics to a cloud-based dashboard and monitoring system. Solution built using Visual Studio 2015, WinForms, Entity Framework, VistaDB and internal frameworks. Worked on an automated molecular testing and diagnostics system (ViperLT) as software lead and developer migrating from Visual Studio 2010 to 2015, merging in cyber security enhancements, break/fix enhancements and system maintenance, targeting visual studio 2010/15, SQL 2008/12, WPF, ActiveReports, Hamilton robot software and other and 3rd party and internal frameworks. Leveraged a mostly hybrid agile process, supporting team development spanning development, through delivery, core team, software, systems, manufacturing, QA and QC.Working on BD COR, next generation molecular diagnostic instrumentation, helping to develop multi-tier, multi-threaded and task based custom command and control workflows and instrument control to run PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) processes that exponentially amplify DNA sequences for later analysis. Providing product architecture, design, development and delivery services to an organization delivering creative products to Veterinary Practices and Pet owners. Working with a team to help enhance in-house and public facing web and mobile applications leveraging .Net MVC, WebAPI, Bootstrap, Angularjs, Inspinia, ngViews, UrrbanAirship, SQL Server, Azure, Android and other complimentary technologies.

Providing architecture, design, development and delivery services to Erickson Living; integrating Microsoft .NET, BizTalk Server 2010, VS2010, Dynamics AX 2012 R2/VS2012, SQL Server, JDE, internal/external systems, applications and trading partners. Supported a successful roll out of Dynamics AX 2012 R2 with an initial focus on Accounts payable and General Ledger transactions. Provided technical and diagnostic guidance and mentoring to IT and business analysts for day to day monitoring and health management. Developed an integration framework (Erickson Integration Fabric) to provide consistent integration guidance, patterns, practices, shared error handling, notification capabilities and services to the enterprise. Designed and developed an Azure VM hosted VS2012, .NET MVC4/SQL Server POC for an Inventory Yard Management system targeted to mobile devices to manage intake of received goods by image/number, staging statistics on local SQL DB and later transmitted to a back office systems, providing minimum administration, reporting, review/approval, and configuration capabilities.

Provided architecture, design and development of systems, processes and B2B solutions in the financial services industry, leveraging Microsoft .NET, BizTalk Server and complementary technologies. Integrated internal and external disparate systems to exchange data in the support of such functions as trading, custody, fund admin, fund accounting, transfer agency, marketing, etc. Developed a multi-sheet excel document parse and integration enhancement to a custom developed BizTalk Excel receive pipeline component. Developed integration of financial marketing data between on-premise business systems and external business partners using BizTalk Server and complementary technologies. Developed a SWIFT integration between on-premise business systems and major banking institutions to transact financial data using MT541 and MT543 Swift messages leveraging the BizTalk Server Swift adapter and complementary technologies. Designed and developed integration tooling to automate and expedite the manufacture of pure .NET integration solutions between disparate systems built on a custom .NET integration solution stack. Refined baseline integration solution design and composition to promote quality, consistency, feature and function. Core functionality was enhanced to include cross cutting capabilities, patterns and practices inherent in most full featured integration products and subsystems on the market. Capabilities such as common configuration and exception handling, logging, tracing and retry-logic, data formatting and conversion, mapping and validation, stubbing, mocking and diagnostics utilities were all built-in to support full lifecycle development.The integration stack exposes/comprises a consumer façade leveraging Microsoft AspNet MVC4 WebApi for REST style service consumption. A models layer encapsulating simple and complex request and response object definitions and a configurable downstream services layer leveraging WCF and complementary technologies to provide adaption and integration with mostly SOAP and MQ legacy endpoints. Common features and functions were abstracted into common library packages and SharePoint was used to provide consistent organization and reference to design and release notes. The tooling was developed to help expedite the manufacturing of many like integrations leveraging visual studio templates, template wizard technology and DTE to auto-generate jump start assets. The tooling and generated assets instill high repeatability and consistency, allowing large teams to focus on the business and integration problems specific to a given integration rather than risking the reinvention of one-off’s for each problem domain.

Participated in architecture, design, development and engagement management as lead integration architect and design mentor of a mainframe modernization project. Project employed full life cycle development, the use of Microsoft Software development center (SDC), ISD process and TFS to define manage and track activities using a hybrid agile approach. ITT Night Vision - Participated in architecture, design, implementation, and management of a business process automation framework designed to be leveraged across the numerous divisions within the corporation. Microsoft SharePoint, InfoPath, ASP.NET, BizTalk Server and K2.net were used to develop a common framework on which to build agile business processes involving human to human, human to system and system to system workflows.

Participated in architecture design, implementation and management of an IT Request system pilot leveraging the ITT BPA framework developed for use across corporate divisions.

Participated in an analysis and design of a large online payment and processing system utilizing ASP.NET, BizTalk, SQL Server, and SQL Reporting services. BizTalk Server was designed as part of an overall SOA strategy to integrate the enterprise.

Participated in the architecture, design and implementation of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solution to automate the processing of invoices into their food management system and administer the EDI relationships to their vendors.

HealthScribe - Conducted an architectural review and analysis of a document delivery system using Microsoft BizTalk server 2004, including customized routing, delivery, and rendering capabilities.

Participated in the architecture, design and implementation of an enterprise integration using Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002, Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), and a collection of custom components implemented in Microsoft Visual C#.NET. This solution was undertaken to satisfy critical interface requirements that materialized during the replacement of their Transfer Agency system and enhancements to other core systems within the IT infrastructure. This won the Microsoft Integration Solution of the Year award in 2003.

Participated in the design and implementation of XSL FO files used to transform incoming XML data into PDF documents. The resulting PDF documents were targeted to the insurance industry and included formats such as binders, certifications, endorsements, etc.

Participated in the design and implementation of an XML based rules processing engine responsible for processing incoming XML data based on a set of custom rules and transforming that data into a series of COM+ and database procedure calls to facilitate unattended batch submission of data to a back-end system.

Participated in the design and implementation of large complex intranet-based information and modeling system using Microsoft technologies for the Corporate Reinsurance Department. The system was developed using Windows 2000, IIS 5.0, SQL Server 2000, DB2 6.1 on S/390, DB2 Connect 6.1 on NT, Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Interdev 6.0, COM+, XML, XSLT, ASP, ADO 2.6, and IE 5.0.

Participated in the design, development and maintenance of an intranet system that tied together several Zurich premium and claim systems. The application brought data from many different sources to one location where the underwriters could access it all quickly and easily in order to help them make their underwriting decisions more efficiently and more accurately than they could previously, as well as providing a single point of update for the underwriters.

Participated in the design and development of a Microsoft cluster server solution used to maintain high application availability for plant floor systems used by a worldwide shipping company. Both Windows NT4 and Windows 2000 advanced server clustering solutions were developed along with architectural prototypes, white papers, development guidelines and configuration/deployment strategies on Compaq hardware.

NASDR - Participated in the development of business and data components hosted under MTS/COM+ used to convert Oracle data to XML that was later presented to clients through XML/XSL transformation. Developed and maintained back-end automated installation and integration software using ADSI to automate the configuration of IIS and COM+ components.

Designed, developed, and ported diagnostic software for worldwide online shipping software used to diagnose system problems in the field. Application written in C++, Win32, Visual Basic and Access to perform device, database and system resource diagnostics.

Managed, designed and developed a three-tier journal editing tracking system (Jets) used by 100+ users to track journals, issues and articles through their production lifecycle. Various maintenance screens were developed to manipulate the journal, issue and article detail information as well as for specifying and capturing production schedule and actual dates for each step in the production process.

Managed, designed and developed a three-tier health care management system used by 2000+ physician staff and 4000 to 6000 dial-in office staff to manage, view, report, and manipulate patient records across an intranet. Patient demographics, laboratory test data, transcribed medical documents with electronic compose, review, revise and signature capabilities, billing, prescriptions and more are managed and maintained by this system.

Managed, designed and developed a telemarketing system that transformed a paper-based customer inquiry and sales capture system used to sell AT&T long distance telephone service in the UK. The system employed component-based, three-tier architecture to allow it to support the sale and management of other products that follow similar workflow and sales processes. The client application was written in Microsoft Visual Basic 4.0 and used SQL Server 6.0 as its data repository. RDO was used as the data interface mechanism and stored procedures encapsulating most of the system’s business rules.

Participated in the development of a cost analysis application using Excel and Excel VBA for the costing and analysis of projects undertaken by the World Bank.

Participated in the design and prototyping of custom ActiveX controls to be used in a large document management system. Microsoft Visual C++ version 4.0 was used in the prototyping and construction of these visual components.

Designed and developed a client-server application used to manage individual student connections to the Internet. User and connection information is maintained in a SQL-Base database residing on a Windows NT Server. Administration access is provided through a Windows-based client application written in SQL-Windows. Web-based user and helpdesk access is provided through Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) utilizing static and dynamic Web pages developed with Microsoft's FrontPage. Dynamic Web page generation and database access is provided through a custom ISAPI interface written in VC++ and MFC.

Designed and developed a client-based analysis tool used to forecast, track and perform “what if “analysis on client profitability data collected and maintained in a SQL Server database. Data is collected from various sources such as mainframe DB2, spreadsheets, management applications, flat files, etc., and is archived in relational format in a SQLServer database. The client profitability analysis system utilized Excel with Excel/VBA as the client application with OLE automation servers providing an object interface around the database. Designed and developed a client-based, time tracking application used by employees of different departments or groups. The application allows users to capture the tasks and times they spend on various clients throughout the workday. The information collected is stored in a SQLServer database and is later used to conduct client profitability analysis and reporting. The application was written in Visual C++ and utilized third party controls for grid-based presentation. Designed and developed a setup utility using Install Shield to facilitate client-based installations. Designed and developed a customer service workstation prototype employing a multi-page book concept to present customer investment information to a customer service representative. Prototype was written in Visual Basic 4.0. External interfaces to a VRU and DB2 mainframe database also existed. Designed and developed an object-oriented RPS workbench prototype employing visual objects and drag-drop workflow to perform various customer service tasks for investment management. The prototype was written in Visual Basic 4.0 and employed OLE automation servers as an object wrapper around an Access and SQL Server database.

Bell Atlantic - Designed and developed a budgeting application written in Excel/VBA utilizing OLE automation servers to access data contained in an Access database. Participated in the design and development of an enterprise wide budgeting system employed a complement of Visual Basic and C++ front-end applications and C++ components deployed on PC workstations accessing multiple Microsoft SQL Servers. Each server maintains a fully replicated, 14 GB database, with feeds from a mainframe system running DB2. Several hundred users are currently utilizing this system. Microsoft Visual Basic 3.0 was used to develop the front-end user interface. Designed and developed a financial analysis package as part of the budgeting system. The design consisted of a customized Excel add-in that tightly integrated the VB application with Excel. This integration provided various financial charting, trending and “what if” analysis mechanisms using Excel’s built-in capabilities.

Software Engineer / System Architect - Participated in the design and development of a microbiology data management system for resale by Becton Dickinson. Software Project / Technical Lead - Participated in the design and development of laboratory information system (LIS) integration enhancements to the Bactec NR860. Also participated in the development of HIS and HL7 interfaces and integrations.Code Management Standardization - Upgraded the IT department’s version control system used during program development, resulting in a standard way to manage code and configuration across multiple products. Software Group Leader - Maintained responsibility for the management and system architecture for Vision, a Windows-based microbiology data management system. Software Technical Lead - Participated in the design and implementation of an Automated Blood Culturing System called the NR860. Designed test scheduling, test algorithms, command, control, and database management.

Systems Engineer (System Engineering) - Responsible for all product engineering required to quote, design, manage and implement of distributed process control systems for resale. Customer applications included petrochemical, pharmaceutical, factory automation, energy management and government applications for DOD and DOE..Systems Design Engineer (R&D) - Conducted feasibility studies for the integration and design of the Intel 80386 microprocessor for use in distributed process control systems. Integrated the Intel 80386 into the product line using the most cost-effective approach and gaining the highest performance achievable. Systems Design Engineer (R&D) - Researched, designed and implemented a high-speed fiber optic communications system for I/O control on the D/3 distributed control system to provide EMI isolation for an isotope separation process at Lawrence Livermore Labs. Design Engineer (R&D) - Participated in the design and development of intelligent process I/O interface subsystems used in by the D/3 distributed controls system to provide plant floor integration as well as continuous and batch-oriented process integrations. Design Engineer (R&D) - Participated in the design and development of a Low Cost Control system (LCCS) hosted on MicroVax, leveraging D/3 distributed smart I/O.

Field Service Engineer - Field repair of industrial controls system at factories, processing plants and shop floor.Electronic Repair Technician – Component level circuit analysis and repair of intelligent I/O cards and distributed control systems used in the distributed control and monitoring of plant wide and shop floor industrial control processes.
