I am designing and implementing strategies to scale Habitat's impact through the development of regional approaches to influence housing systems to become more inclusive.

I designed and led programs that apply market-based approaches to create more inclusive housing markets benefiting millions of people per year. The Shelter Venture Labs are social innovation labs apply systems thinking and design thinking to facilitate more inclusive housing markets and improve the quality of construction in the informal sector. These five country-based Labs (Philippines, India, Kenya, Mexico, and Peru) are a flagship program of the Terwilliger Center and are where we innovate and learn the most effective ways of improving housing quality at scale. What we learn in the Labs influences our programs globally. Our Applied Innovation team apply proven approaches from our Labs to make a real impact in housing globally. The Applied Innovation team supports global corporations in the housing space through our Corporate Innovation Studio to create shared value approaches. ShelterTech is the world's leading platform for affordable housing innovation. The platform's goal is to build and advance a thriving, connected ecosystem that brings together entrepreneurial minds to answer today's most pressing global shelter challenges. Through our accelerators, alumni network, and other activities we seek to catalyze the growth of housing-focused innovations.

I designed and provided strategic direction to a global program adapting market systems approaches to the housing sector. I raised and managed a portfolio of over $20 million in grant funding to identify barriers that restrict low-income housing and make housing market systems more effective and inclusive in six countries (Philippines, India, Kenya, Macedonia, Mexico, and Peru) around the world. I also supported developing the first three ShelterTech Accelerators in Mexico, Kenya, and India, supporting housing-focused entrepreneurs.

I provided technical assistance and backstopping support for the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of nutrition sensitive and gender transformative market system development programs in South Asia and East and Southern Africa including: • SHOUHARDO III, a USAID Food for Peace (FFP) program in Bangladesh, which aims to improve food security for over 168,000 households • Agriculture Extension Support Activity (AESA), a project focused on improving agricultural extension services to improve the food security of 200,000 women and smallholder farmers, • Strengthening the Dairy Value Chain (SDVC) which aims to improve the dairy-related incomes of 35,000 smallholder dairy producers in northwest Bangladesh • Graduation with Resilience to Achieve Sustainable Development (GRAD) project in Ethiopia which aims to graduate 50,000 households from the government safety net program • Pathways, a 6-country gender and agriculture program aiming to increase empowerment, incomes, and productivity of 50,000 female smallholders • Developing Local Extension Capacity (DLEC), a USAID-funded program, with the goal of strengthening agricultural extension and advisory systems globally • Pastoralists’ Areas Resilience Improvement through Market Expansion (PRIME) aiming to increase household incomes, and enhance resilience to climate change through market linkages in Ethiopia’s dryland areas • SHOMOSHTI, an SDC funded program, which combines a making markets work for the poor (M4P) approach targeting the extreme poor with a focus on strengthening their access to social services

I provided short-term technical support for designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating value chain and market systems development programs worldwide. I led engagements to develop winning proposals, design value chain and market systems strategies, and provide technical backstopping and organizational support to implementing teams.

I led the country program including the design, implementation, and monitoring of a $2+ million portfolio of AFE programs in the craft export, agro-processing and seed sectors which entail promoting market access, new technologies/ techniques, improved management skills, policy reform, and improved relationships/ linkages between market actors. This included a significant amount of work as a co-facilitator of the Katalyst program, including the introduction of vegetable seed "mini-packets" for which Katalyst won the OECD DAC Prize. I also developed and tested strategies for applying market systems development principles for disaster risk reduction (DRR) programs based in part on adapting the Emergency Market Mapping and Analysis (EMMA) toolkit for DRR.

I led a range of client engagements including training over 150 development practitioners from many different organizations and nationalities in Value Chain Program Design, and conducting value chain and market systems assessments in numerous markets. I also oversaw and provided technical assistance to AFE's own programs including in Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Lebanon, and led the development of technical and financial proposals for numerous donors.

I led the design and implementation of value chain programs in Bangladesh and Uganda focused on youth employment, cyclone relief and livelihood recovery, and agricultural development. I also created one of 25 winning proposals for the World Bank South Asia Regional Development Marketplace 2008 to use a value-chain approach to reduce stigma against HIV/AIDS in South Asia worth $40,000.

I directed development, implementation and monitoring of an evaluation database for a 3 year $500,000 USAID sub-grant to create employment and economic opportunities for rehabilitated intravenous drug users, and conducted regular assessments and prepared regular evaluation reports including the final evaluation of the pilot initiative to socio-economically rehabilitate intravenous drug users.

I was a Youth and Community Development Volunteer placed within the Department of Youth Development where I developed curriculum and materials for culturally relevant Spoken English courses. I also supported a local health clinic to develop implement, and analyze the results of a utilization survey, helped revise the goals and objectives of the health clinic based on the results of the survey, and developed new indicators to measure progress in meeting the objectives.
