Additionally I was also KAM for their Australian franchisee so was frequently in Australia, supporting their sales team, in the field, with their customers. Development of the 3 year Technical Roadmap was the keystone to the strategic direction of the company and this saw us develop research programmes around paint improvement, new metal technology that was emerging around the world, along with adjacent products to be introduced to the range.Over time the role became increasing more forward looking as day-to-day activities (QC etc) were passed on to others. Some highlights were* Research, development and validation of performance to ANZ standards of a suite of new steel technologies that were emerging from Japan, Korea, and Belgium.*Refinement of the waterborne paint technology used at Pacific Coilcoaters, which is unique in the global coilcoating scene.* Introducing 2 PhD students to work of some of our more "blue-sky" projects, partially funded by Callaghan Innovation.* Securing $650k project funding to investigate making our products "superhydrophobic" by modifying the surface with femtosecond lasers, in conjunction with University of Auckland.* Initiated a review of AS1397, the benchmark standard for roofing steel in ANZ, allowing for the incorporation of some of the newer steels that were emerging from overseas.
