About Scott Mosser

I led a team of scientists at Merck focused on the integration of innovative technologies to enable robust and efficient execution of a wide range of In Vitro assays. The team works together to drive efficient workflows to enable compound and assay management, data capture and reporting, fit for purpose instrumentation and robotic platforms, and a variety of automation. These workflows support the small molecule drug discovery efforts in Neuroscience and Infectious Disease as well as supporting Vaccine Elisa assays. I enjoy working with and on teams where I can share the scientific knowledge, I have accrued over 35 years with a goal to enable scientists to innovate and impact Merck's pipeline. I have had the pleasure of working on teams that discovered Belsomra® the first-in-class Orexin Receptor Antagonist approved for insomnia and many other innovative medicines. One of my passions, is to manage people and enable them to achieve their career aspirations and goals. This passion extends to making the workplace a place where people love to come to work, a place where they can flourish, build lasting friendships and networks.

    Over the last few years our team has put two inSPIRE robotic platforms in place to provide capacity for ELISA assays but these systems were also built in a flexible way to enable the support of various biochemical and cell based assays. The team is currently working on a fast track system with several Thermo robots enabling many different assay technologies and other potential scientific needs. We are building this system in a modular way so it is easily adaptable for the next critical assay technology or any potentially game changing technology that is on the horizon. Another important part of setting up these systems is building a lab that can be extremely flexible and can easily change and adapt to the ever changing discovery landscape. We are continually looking for new technology to enable our scientists to do their work and to ensure there is clear communication about the activities happening in the lab.
