Managed all station operations including the sales team

managed the sales activity for the Minnesota News Network, Minnesota Farm Network, WMNN Radio and KLBB Radio.

Managed a group of 6 sellers tasked with creating effective marketing programs for TV and Website, for Local businesses in the Twin Cities.

Part of a small team hired by Knight-Ridder to start up a local Shopper Product in the Twin Cities. We grew Bargainz to a weekly circulation of 150,000 in just 6 months from inception.

Managed a team of territory sales reps as well as the Entertainment category (Movies, Theatre, Entertainment, Restaurants), creating and implementing special programs. Also started up and managed the new Local Advertising Zoned R.O.P. program, as well as launching and managing the Advertising Post-it Note program.

Co-managed a team of 25 Outside Display sales representatives. Promoted all aspects of products including R.O.P., inserts, print and inserts and post-it note advertising.

ADVO was a fantastic career stop for me. Their sales training was second to none, and they really helped me to understand the power of Transactional Advertising thru Marriage and Solo mail. It was my three years of professional sales "boot camp". Direct Mail is a commodity business, and unique differentiation is difficult to create inside a mailbox.

The best possible place to start a career in media directed towards small business! I was given the opportunity to grow and manage one specific zoned edition of Sun Newspapers (Beautiful Downtown Hopkins), one of 35 different editions Sun published every week. In my 5.5 years of working in Hopkins I really grew to understand the importance of small business and how it shapes the community. I also learned that you need to jump in with both feet; I was vice-president of Hopkins Mainstreet Community Promotions, a member of Hopkins Rotary, Hopkins Raspberry Festival, and a Jaycee. It was because of this level of participation the little newspaper zone of Hopkins was consistently the top 2 or 3 revenue generating territories within Sun.
