Part time consulting work involving mechanical design support for optical systems. Design work entails creating the mechanical envelope of a provided lens configuration. Design work utilizes Solid Edge design software to model components.

Responsible for coordinating and conducting research and development tests in order to meet customer design requirements, budget, and timeline. Experience includes developmental performance testing on Environmental Control Systems of commercial aircraft at the system level as well as the component level, design of the mechanical test setup as well as coordination with test systems team to meet data acquisition and instrumentation requirements. As the test lead, performed budget analysis and coordinated resources to ensure proper funding and manpower allocation for completion of test. Held design reviews with test chief and peers to demonstrate and communicate test readiness. Coordinated Acceptance Test Stand relocation and performed correlation study to verify its reliability and repeatability. Performed trade studies to determine best possible design option for test setup. Test experience with rotor balancing, drive shaft alignment, gearbox assemblies, air cycle machine (utilizing turbo machinery) performance testing, and proof and burst tests of various components.

Responsible for working under SOI Value Stream Manager and assisting manufacturing engineers in completing tasks around the plant. Experience includes running and facilitating morning meetings, completing rejection reports and writing Rework Travelers to correctly rebuild units as well as conduct Root Cause analysis. Qualified a TIG weld process to meet specific penetration and cosmetic requirements and wrote supplementary report. Assisted in move to new facility by converting Delta ovens from CO2 to LN2 coolant source and plumbing new supply lines to ovens. Plumbed high pressure booster station, low pressure Mensor units, and vacuum lines. Performed electrical testing on units (Baseline-Zero testing, Insulation Resistance, Dielectric Strength, Continuity Testing, etc.). Rewired multimeter channel board, replaced solenoids. Rebuilt oil-fill station to perform to test requirements. Wrote Visual Method Work Instructions (documented how operations were performed)

Responsible for data analysis and collection for various types of Accommodating Intra Ocular Lenses. Organization and visualization of the data is done by writing code in ZEMAX and Visual Basic (Excel) to automate various processes of tolerancing and compile data into readable spreadsheets and tables.
