    First professional sale, the short story "The Mailbox,"​ won a Tamarack Award from Minnesota Monthly magazine in 1987 and was published in Minnesota Monthly in October of that year. Since that publication, has had poetry, humor, nonfiction, short stories, and two novellas published, including the Star Trek novella Honor in the Night in Myriad Universes 3 (2010), the mystery "Clothes Make the Man"​ in the anthology The Writes of Spring (2012), and the Lovecraftian short story "The Squid that Came to Phil's Basement"​ in the Spring 2014 issue of Space and Time Magazine. Contributed urban fantasy stories to each of three anthologies in the ReDeus series (2012-2013). Had a Star Trek eBook published by Simon & Schuster in 2014.
