Accountable for achieving the organization’s mission to train the next generation of great classically trained musicians, while developing audiences and overseeing a broad range of community initiatives. Provide leadership and vision to ensure that the education program, personal instruction, and performance opportunities at the Music Academy meet the highest standards of excellence and are recognized for their quality by music professionals worldwide.Foster an environment that enables the Music Academy to attract and retain the finest possible faculty, and to compete successfully for the most qualified students. Oversee the selection of faculty, guest artists and repertoire for all educational and performance activities.Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement annual and long-term financial plans. Map annual operating and capital budgets, monitor performance, and recommend adjustments as necessary. Recruit, develop, and maintain a high-caliber staff and promote a streamlined administration plan. Drive all aspects of operations, including finance, marketing, public relations, facilities and grounds management, information technology, and community relations.Serve as the primary fundraiser for the Music Academy by providing direction and impetus to the fundraising work of the Board and staff. In collaboration with the Board, ensure that the organization has the financial resources needed to fulfill its mission and maintain its facilities. Lead organization as chief advocate and spokesperson locally, nationally, and internationally. Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with artists, administrators, and music educators, and seek opportunities for productive partnerships and collaborations that expand the reach, influence, and reputation of the Music Academy of the West.

Managed SFO’s annual fund, leadership giving program, special project fundraising and other initiatives designed to secure the philanthropic support necessary to meet SFO’s $30M+ annual fundraising goal. Directly supervised 15 member development staff and eight departments including research, special events, annual giving, leadership giving, corporate giving, foundation and government funding, and donor services. Collaborated with marketing, communications, artistic and finance departments as a member of SFO’s executive development team.
