A System Developer at Canadian Bank Note (CBN) with 8 years of experience in this role. In my time in this role I have worked with a wide variety of technologies and products to ensure we deliver a full solution to our customers. My role is to ensure that any software and database needed for the client is configured and working for the customer. This primarily involves the building and using Puppet modules to deploy Virtual Machines in the exact state we want them. On top of that I manage the Databases for these deployments from Database design, deployment, migration, support, and everything in between. While I use Postgresql most often I also work with Oracle, SQL Server, and My SQL depending on whatever product I am deploying requires.I have a passion for writing Reports for our systems, primarily using Birt. These reports ensure that our customers have easy access to view stats and gain insights about the data in their systems. With that passion I have become the lead of our Reporting Team to ensure we put out the best Reports possible. This means updating them with ever improving look and feel, as well as tuning the database queries and indexing to improve reporting efficiency.I also led the initiative to bring ElasticSearch to our products at CBN. In this endeavor I built the puppet modules to deploy ElasticSearch to Linux. Along with Python Scripts to both ingest and validate data from Postgresql or Oracle into ElasticSearch. I also designed the indexing and standards for CBN to use with ElasticSearch to ensure optimal performance and functionality.Over time I have taken a mentorship role as well within my Team to ensure our new hires know how to do the wide variety of tasks we take on. In that role I teach the new hires how to use specific technology as well as teaching them the standards we adhere to.
