Since I first installed Adobe's Creative Suite back in 2006 I've been designing and building content for the web. I often strived to balance my skills between design and development, but over time I realized it was best to choose a focus, so I dedicated more attention to UI and UX design. I'm experienced with writing code for the web (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) and also native code for iOS (Objective-C), and while I don't use those skills day-to-day anymore my experience enables me to relate well to software engineers. I know how to design within the constraints and hand off my designs in a way that serves the needs of developers. Coming from a customer support background helps me relate to the pain points that users often feel when working with software, so I'm very pragmatic in my approach to design. The look and feel is important, but the usability is even more critical. Design is about solving problems for real people by building intuitive solutions for them. I love to learn and explore, especially with my wife and six children. As a Christian, I enjoy spending time with God through prayer, Bible study, and fellowship with other believers. I also enjoy learning how to design and build custom wood crafts and furniture in my spare time.
