I qualified and worked in practice for four years before broadening my accounting and commercial experience with a move into a manufacturing and distribution environment. My knowledge base was further expanded by obtaining an MBA at Warwick. My current responsibilities include managing the finance processes for the group companies, supervision, recruitment & training/development of the finance team, improvement and implementation of all finance systems, legal & taxation compliance, insurance, ISO, UK Logistics and health & safety. Liasing with the operational staff & fellow Directors, the workload encompasses production of yearly budgets and forecasts, reporting of all results, trends and performance indicators for each group company, and reporting to both the shareholders and external stakeholders as required.Historically, I have also overseen the financial and taxation compliance for an independent group of property, hotel and travel orientated businesses on behalf of the shareholders trading in the Swansea region.

Having sat my ACCA examinations, I initially embarked on a career in Public practice with Crowe Clark Whitehill - a top 20 UK practice. Working on audit and accounts preparation tasks, primarily for owner-managed businesses, charities and partnerships, but with exposure to a few listed companies. I progressed through the ranks to the position of audit supervisor, planning and overseeing audits and reporting directly to senior management / partner level, before I left the firm to join my largest client.
