Always a science geek, I entered college in 1972 wanting to be an an astronomer. In my 4th year of astrophysics, NASA shut down the Apollo program, laying off many thousands of PhD physicists and Engineers. Well, time to consider a career change, so, oddly enough, I followed my artistic side and went into TV & Film production for 17 years, the last 10 of which as co-owner of a small production house. During that time I enjoyed expressing my creative needs by writing, directing and producing various projects, managing to collect a fair number of local and regional awards along the way. At that time I was a Certified Broadcast Engineer and a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers.In 1993, tiring of 70 hour work weeks and slow-paying clients, I returned to science and entered the exciting field of Air Pollution Monitoring & Research. Well, maybe it's not THAT exciting, but it is fulfilling. I served as a Senior Air Quality Technician for the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District until the State of California stole me away in 2000 to run a bunch of air quality studies and research projects, and here I remain.In my free time I am an aspiring author and have been writing fiction for the past decade. I've won some awards in this area, too, including twice placing second in the William Saroyan writing contest. Now that my kids are out of the house -- FINALLY!! -- I have time to pursue acquiring an agent. I also like reading, camping, stargazing with my 8" telescope, cooking and annoying my wife with bad puns.
