I was engaged on a short term contract by the company owned Property Management division of McGrath to provide consulting expertise and efficiency recommendations on McGrath’s use of software platforms and assess multiple additional platforms for possible future implementation. Assisted staff and users within the business to use current systems more effectively and efficiently.

Leading the Rockend Product Team and Development Teams across 5 products and 50+ staff, reporting to the CEO, I was responsible for setting and managing strategic direction for all of the Rockend product lines and platforms. This included oversight of product roadmaps and feature selection with the Product Team and ensuring on-schedule delivery of those products with both the Product and Development Teams. In addition, I was responsible for evaluating, designing, negotiating and implementing the ecosystem surrounding the products including 3rd party integrations and 3rd party/click revenue.Achievements:- Implemented a new SDLC and cross business release process which significantly improved predictability and communication of releases both internally and to clients and enabled better operational planning.- Released 5 products to separate (multiple times a year) release cycles without missing a release date in the last 5+ years- Conceived, scoped and implemented a series of new features to all products to greater integrate each and extend the life of the desktop products with hybrid cloud capabilities in an increasingly cloud orientated marketplace- Personally designed and oversaw the development of native mobile applications for each of our products which quickly became amongst our most popular features and made the products more available to clients.- Introduced the concept of a 3rd party ecosystem to the business and worked with partner businesses to take 3rd party revenue from $0 to over $600k pa as a side role.In addition as the Head of Product I represented Rockend at industry events and functions, speaking at national conferences, user meetings, industry round tables, key client representations and wherever a depth of technical knowledge and property industry was required.

Initially hired into Rockend to oversee the acquisition and integration of 2 (later 3) other businesses - one competitor and one complementary business. I managed parts of the due diligence and acquisition processes of these businesses and all of the integration processes. Initially I ran these businesses as separate business units, responsible for all aspects of the business from sales and marketing to support and development. Achievements;- Oversaw the acquisition of Clarke software and client base from REA and the staff and client liaison and operational tasks re the acquisition. Managed the business and staff until integrated to existing operations teams.- Worked on the acquisition of the Archive Systems business from a Qld company. Managed this business as a separate business unit for some time, responsible for the management of the entire business including sales, marketing, support and product management. This product became Rockend’s fileSMART and is now their most profitable product. Managed the business and staff for a year until integrated into the existing operations teams.- Managed the due diligence, acquisition and staff and client integration associated with the purchase of the StrataMatic software business. Ran the business separately until fully integrated into existing operations.

Returning to Melbourne to head up RUN's Business Development Team I had the challenging task of building from scratch a sales team selling RUN's property management services. This included, hiring teams and building associated systems and processes. Also managed the property sales division of RUN which was achieved through strategic partnerships and sales referrals with some of the most well known real estate brands in Australia.Achievements- Increased new business numbers by nearly 300% from the month preceding my appointment to my last month as leader of the team with consistently improved numbers on a monthly basis.- Recruited, trained and managed Australia’s largest property management BDM team under challenging operational circumstances.- Scoped and oversaw development of an inhouse, online national referral portal to encourage and track new business referrals. This system fed into RUN's propriety software to enable end to end tracking of referrals.- Worked with the marketing team to improve the business value proposition to investors.- Dramatically increased the property sales revenue to RUN by developing and managing a sales referral network with partner agents.
National Mergers & Acquisitions Manager
In its initial startup phase RUN purchased approximately 28 different rent rolls / businesses across 3 different states, totaling some 23,000+ properties. My role was to integrate these businesses into one centrally managed business on a single software platform. With a small team of direct reports, I was responsible for all aspects of the mergers and integrations. I created and managed project plans consisting of several hundred tasks and typically running for 6 weeks. At any one time I was running a minimum of 3 mergers, on occasion there were multiple business go lives on the same day meaning more simultaneous projects. As a startup company there were few resources to call on and I was initially doing most things hands on, including running incoming staff training on our systems, and supervising operations staff once they commenced. Later extra resources in HR, Training and Operations allowed me to concentrate on higher numbers/value of projects simultaneously. Achievements;- Completed 28 rent roll M&A’s across 2 states and 23,000 properties without missing a go live date. - Juggled many responsibilities including pre purchase portfolio assessment, incoming staff assessment, contract offers and negotiation and delivery, portfolio rationalising, staff systems training, data manipulation and cleansing, liaising with IT on data uploads, retesting, company rebranding, office fitout, change management for staff and clients, client notification, closing trust accounts, funds transfer of ledgers, trust reconciliation, licensing and statutory requirements, etc. - Managed significant change management scenarios for many businesses of staff. These staff and businesses faced a large change in an unfamiliar scenario and required a lot of support.- Liaised with many 3rd party software providers to change over the agents to RUN’s proprietary software system
