About Scott Sifferman

I have twenty years of engineering experience in photonics, semiconductors, RF, and systems design, with the last eighteen years including experience in a variety of academic and industrial research settings for photonics and RF systems development. I have worked on projects at every level from materials and device development up to full systems integration and implementation, and in applications ranging from nanotechnology to space satellite systems. My current responsibilities include responsibilities for LADAR/LiDAR systems, advanced radar, electronic countermeasures, and photonic multi-chip module development. My academic research focused on materials and device development for GaSb-based mid-infrared semiconductor diode lasers using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). I produced lasers that operate at the longest emission wavelengths for devices with an aluminum-free active region, and demonstrated the first epitaxial growth of and first room-temperature photoluminescence from GaInAsSbBi alloys.Selected specialties and interests of mine include III-V semiconductor materials and devices, lasers, LIDAR/LADAR systems, nonlinear optics, optical detection, materials identification, ultra high vacuum science, molecular beam epitaxy, and RF design.
