As an innovative Project Engineer at RailWorks Track Systems, I am responsible for managing project engineering activities to ensure compliance with company and contract requirements. I support the development, updating, and approval of construction schedules. I provide technical support for construction efforts including design interpretation, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts and constructability reviews. I also interface with all on-site departments and inter-agency managers to resolve problems and to ensure quality of construction, project safety, and adherence to project specifications in support of overall project schedule. Supervising field layout and surveying activities while observing workflow to anticipate any potential schedule changes is a daily activity. Coordination with suppliers on delivery of materials is a critical component of my responsibilities. Furthermore, I am responsible for reviewing change order drawings and specifications; developing, tracking and negotiating proposals and change orders. I advise our Project Managers of schedule conflicts and issues, and work with stakeholders to resolve those conflicts. I'm responsible for analyzing permanent material requirements, soliciting quotes, and preparing purchase agreements. I also develop requirements for specialized equipment and coordinate with vendors to obtain customized equipment and materials.
