Director and Staff Scientist. Built and managed a twenty-some person software engineering/product design department focusing on direct-to-patient health studies and scientific portals for Broad scientists to share their discoveries, methods, and data.The team launched ten direct-to-patient registry projects in two years, including several for the Count Me In team, whose work is profiled here:http://time.com/5427807/count-me-in-cancer-research/.

One of three initial Heads in Moderna's Informatics department. Designed and managed development of a cloud-based platform to allow Moderna scientists and external customers to design custom mRNA therapeutics in an easy-to-use web application.

Collaborative Data Services (CDS) is a 35 to 100-person shared resource serving 150-200 projects a year with a range of integrated services, including custom technology development, creative services (website/print/video), call center, and data acquisition/management teams. Responsible for high-level direction and strategy, overseeing department administration, customer relationship management, and high-level solutions architecture.

First manager hired to help create a new eHealth department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, developed and managed web analytics tools and dashboards, and served as the technology representative on an institution-level team to completely redesign healthcare delivery at the hospital.

Created and taught graduate-level courses in website development, management of web development projects, and data-driven website development, in the newly created New Media Program and School of Informatics. Also taught intro-level undergraduate courses. Directed development of the program and department websites, supervised webmaster, and served on departmental and university committees.

Served as Information Systems Director for the school. Responsible for technology planning and management. Supervised as many as 14 people in a mixed-OS computing environment of approximately 100 CPUs. Managed large projects, such as whole-school computer upgrades. Taught classes in interactive media design. Wrote grants and participated on committees.

Hired as a Systems Assistant, but promoted after a year to provide novel technology solutions for the chemistry and biological scientists. Designed and managed development of one of the first large-scale web-enabled compound registration databases using Oracle, MDL products, and server-side JavaScript, and presented it at the national MDL user conference. Managed and maintained IRIX servers, Oracle databases, and chemistry and biology software.

Directed technology efforts of the department, and managed systems administration and user support for all desktop systems. Supervised one staff member and two graduate students. Designed and developed a custom Mac application to facilitate notation/recording of human movement. Designed and directed several interactive media projects. Awarded the Michael Scherker / Preserve, Inc. award for excellence and innovation in documentation and preservation of dance, 1998. Taught workshops and presented at international conferences. Helped with grant writing, and served on various committees.
