As a systems administrator, software engineer, and engineering manager with Hewlett-Packard and Compaq, I worked in a number of different roles and divisions over more than 20 years from 1988 until 2014.Most recently, I worked on RAID controller software drivers for open-source environments on Linux and VMware, from 2006 to 2014, when the HP Smart Array Division was acquired by PMC-Sierra.

I started with Compaq Computer Corporation in 1988, while completing my Bachelor's degree.Progressing from systems administration to systems software development, I became a local expert on computer storage systems used internally at Compaq. When the company decided to form a computer appliance division to pursue the systems storage market, I made the jump into product development, becoming a product engineer, and later, engineering manager for network attached storage solutions products.
