As Senior Counsel for the Snacks, Private Label and International Business Units, I provided hands-on support for all commercial activities, including marketing and advertising, social media, trademarks, licensing, sales, distribution, antitrust, trade regulations, M&A, and FDA/USDA regulatory matters.

As General Counsel-North America, I was a senior business leader serving on the leadership team for the North American business, while having overall responsibility for legal services throughout North America. Substantively, I provided hands-on day-to-day support for all commercial activities, including marketing and advertising, social media, sales, distribution, licensing, antitrust, trade regulations, competition, M&A and FDA regulatory matters. I also supported the supply chain and operational side of the business, including supporting the procurement and real estate functions both regionally and globally and had accountability for handling employment, benefits, OSHA and environmental matters.

As a generalist in the Operations, Antitrust and Trade Regulations Group, I provided legal guidance in the general areas of antitrust, trade regulations, advertising, marketing, sales, operations, manufacturing, distribution, licensing, M&A, food law, labeling, general contracts and general corporate law. I worked closely with, and supervised, outside counsel on litigation matters involving those areas of responsibility and supervised paralegals, support staff and other attorneys on various projects, including document production efforts, due diligence work and other complex business and legal matters. While at Heinz, I also provided general legal guidance to the operations groups in the areas of OSHA, environmental, real estate and employment matters. In addition, I routinely interfaced with various trade associations and regulatory agencies.

Reporting to the General Counsel I was in charge of providing legal advice and guidance to the Operations, Sales and Marketing divisions. My responsibilities included working proactively with the business to provide guidance and counsel in the areas of food law, advertising, trade regulations, antitrust, marketing, distribution, manufacturing, operations, transportation, contracts, products liability and consumer affairs.In addition, I served as a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary of three Hormel Subsidiaries handling record keeping and minutes in addition to advising the board with respect to business issues.

As a Law Clerk and Associate I worked in both the Corporate Commercial and Litigation sections of the firm.
