About Scott Thistle

More than 25 years writing, photography and editing starting in 1989 at a weekly newspaper in Maine.My goal is to practice effective public relations and media management into the next decade.I took a several year hiatus from journalism in the 1990s and spent time working at seasonal tourism jobs on the mountains, rivers and coast of Maine.Specialties: I specialize in multi-tasking on crisis management, media relations and getting the facts and the broader context of newsy information to the journalists who need it. As an expert Alpine skier I continue to practice emergency slopeside care of injured skiers and snowboard riders. I have been actively involved with the National Ski Patrol in both its Eastern and Central divisions and have served as the Maine Region's Young Adult Patrol Adviser, Outdoor Emergency Care Adviser, a Senior Trainer Evaluator, Instructor Trainer and Instructor in ski and toboggan and Outdoor Emergency Care. I also hold a Maine EMS EMT-B credential and I average 50 days a year on the snow, the bulk of it as the Co-Director for Training with the Lost Valley Patrol in Auburn and as a Senior Alpine Patroller and Trainer for OET/OEC with the Saddleback Ski Patrol in Sandy River Plantation, near Rangeley, Maine.
