Project Based Learning with a focus on STEM content area... surrounded by people who want the best for all children. What a combo for work, challenge and fun!

Harnessing the enthusiasm and excitement for human space travel, we connect health, wellness and STEM engagement with astronaut training. Authored and worked with NASA SMEs for iBook "Space Radiation". For Mission X: Train Like an Astronaut, we designed the activities that over 100,000 children in 39 countries performed this year. I had the privilege to work with an excellent team of content and curriculum writers that led the training for thousands of AP and pre-AP educators around the USA. I greatly valued the opportunity to learn and listen while providing leadership. This team has since merged with the National Math and Science Institute (NMSI).

Led the district efforts for science, health and PE curriculum for grades K-12, while collaborating with school administrators and teachers to deliver the best instruction possible for over 13,000 students. We measured success more deeply than state testing scores, although student scores were excellent. While the fields of education are becoming littered with distractions, good teachers doing good work can still move mountains.

Starting part-time while I was still teaching in the classroom, I wrote curriculum and presented for their state Teacher Preparation and Certification program. I joined Region 10 ESC full-time as their K-12 Science Consultant in 2005. I presented over 250 professional development sessions in the areas of pedagogy and best practices, science and mathematics content, using technology in the classroom, STEM and English Language Learners.

I taught physics, chemistry, geometry, the general sciences and SAT prep in both urban and suburban districts. I loved working directly with students and I feel that teaching is one of the most important professions in the world; I am honored to have played a role - whether big or small - in each and every one of my students as they achieved their dreams. While I was the science department chair and served on numerous committees, the most important work remained with the students.
