Penn Interactive is the digital branch of Penn National Gaming that builds the Barstoolsportsbook online real money gaming platform. I was hired as employee #20 to build and scale an SRE organization from the ground up to support the company’s growth as Penn Interactive’s parent company achieved a billion-dollar valuation increase in three years. I have built the SRE organization to five engineering teams that included 25 members worldwide, and onboarded a 15+ member offshore NOC team, with focus on application availability and operational efficiency.Project Highlights:• Played key role in defining the SDLC and led development of CI/CD pipelines, implementing quality assurance gates, creating blue/green deployable environments, and introducing default monitoring and alerting capabilities to APIs to improve observability. Tools included ECS, EKS, and Jenkins. • Established strategy and roadmaps for information security, automation, AWS and on-prem infrastructure, mission critical infrastructure monitoring, and tooling. Implemented company-wide incident management process comprised of workflows, tooling, SLAs, priority matrices, and communication channels.• Drove effort to offload tier-1 support from SRE organization by leading vendor selection, negotiation, and onboarding of a 15-member offshore NOC team. The initiative reduced off-hours pages 90% in three months (now 95%), improved team happiness scores in monthly surveys, and eliminated team turnover. • Led efforts to research, vet, and select an observability solution to centralize from multiple tools (e.g. SumoLogic, Cloudwatch, etc.). Selected Datadog and negotiated vendor terms. The implementation reduced Mean Time to Detection to <10min and Mean Time to Response to <5min, cut costs 20%, and contributed to 99.99% uptime.

At Capital One I provided leadership to technical teams in executing SRE projects with a focus on breakfix, infrastructure improvements, scalability, and durability. Project Highlights:• Partnered with AWS and internal teams on Digital Resilience effort to ensure applications could fail from AWS regions to another (AWS released the R52 failover product months later). • Migrated critical bank applications to AWS cloud and drove rightsizing efforts that achieved >$1M in savings. • Architected, implemented, and led pipeline redesign projects leveraging a DRY methodology. • Architected and implemented S3 logs and ELB/ALB logs to ELK application. • Led break/fix teams on restoring mission critical applications during outages.

HOSTING was a web and infrastructure hosting company turned DevOps shop with multiple data centers across the US (acquired by NTIRETY). I was hired to develop HOSTING’s next-gen Stelligent Managed Service product as well as architect cloud environments for customers. Project Highlights:• Contributed to architecture and implementation of the Stelligent Managed Service product that included back-end AWS resource management systems, RBAC and authentication systems, and leading the team in implementing a CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) backend integration. • Served as a Solution Architect for client engagements with work focused on AWS migrations and infrastructure implementations, design of on-prem and hybrid solutions, and VMware clusters. • Architected and implemented AWS migrations or new AWS infrastructure for diverse customers.Led efforts to achieve AWS MSP certification for HOSTING by implementing User Management 2.0.
