Global Voices is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to create opportunities for young Australians to engage with international policy both at home and abroad.- One of six students chosen to represent Australian youth at the 2013 - Nairobi Study Tour on Sustainable Development.- Pre-Departure briefing in Canberra, where we met with various members of parliament (Including Senator Christine Milne (Leader of the Greens) and the Hon. Kevin Rudd (Ex Prime-Minister of Australia). - My role included writing a high quality research paper on the topic of sustainable development, specifically the importance of considering cultural factors when planning and implementing projects.- Our delegation met with representatives from the Australian High Commission to Kenya, AusAID, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).- Delegates engaged on the ground with a number of CBO/NGO's and collaborated on their research with tertiary students from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
