About Scott Weigel

Manufacturing of catalysts and adsorbents for applications in refining, new chemicals, and reducing the CO2 footprint of processes that oil and gas corporations develop and deploy. Developed novel, high activity, high selectivity hydrocracking, dewaxing, hydrofinishing catalysts for grass roots units (~$2B and $5B capital assets as examples) and re-fill applications for affiliates and licensees. These catalysts increase efficiency, improve product properties, improve yield, and reduce costs.Develop CO2 adsorbents for direct air capture and high temperature pressure swing applications. Amine supported and metal oxide (promoted, hybrids) systems are primary focus and supported / formed into unique form factors.Synthesis, formulation (spray drying, extrusion, work with 3rd parties for monoliths, spiral wound technology), and addition of metals (as required) are essential skills that I use to move concepts to manufacturable solutions with XOM internal or 3rd parties in order to deliver value by deployment in units. Creative, innovative, and persistent investigation is required to create differentiated active materials therefore I need to understand the fundamentals of the material through critical understanding of manufacturing facilities to produce value for the corporation.Specialties: Research, intellectual property development, development (formulation, post modification, crystal engineering, etc.), scale-up (gram scale to kg scale), and manufacture (active component, final form factor, commercial demonstrations, problem solving, manufacturing improvement) of inorganic porous and metal oxide materials for gas separation, catalysts, and electronics. Within this broad skill set are the synthesis / characterization of porous materials (micro, meso) from lab to commercial scale, extrusion at lab and commercial scale, thin film development, sol gel, zeolite, metal-organic framework, organometallic, solid state, and the application of the materials to corporation relevant interests. Lead small multi-disciplinary teams, strong communication and interpersonal skills, employee development, mentoring, safety focus

Listed skills include Materials Science, Chemistry, Catalysis, Inorganic Chemistry, and 32 others.
