An experienced serial entrepreneur with direct involvement in 9 technology ventures, including Founder of Pragmatic Semiconductor, Board Chair of Q5D Technology, and Board Chair of QuantWare. Also an Advisor at venture fund Deeptech Labs, a Mentor with Intel Ignite, and on the UK Government’s Semiconductor Advisory Panel. I graduated from the University of Western Australia with a 1st class degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics and Information Technology. My honours thesis was focused on neural networks and syntactic machine learning, long before the recent explosion in interest around these techniques. I have since lived and worked across the globe (including Asia, the US and the UK) and over the past 25 years have built and sold five technology businesses, spanning the fields of telecommunications, photonics and machine learning. I am an inventor on over 60 patents, but focus on the translation of exciting technical ideas into tangible commercial traction and business growth. I was named Deep Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in the 2022 Enterprise Awards and Lifetime Fellow of the Bessemer Society in 2023. At Pragmatic, I have led the development of a globally unique flexible semiconductor platform able to connect everyday objects to the Internet of Everything. Now focused on key strategic initiatives including global expansion and championing applications of Pragmatic’s technology across key societal challenges including sustainable growth, ubiquitous healthcare, and national security.
