I’ve enjoyed 25+ years in mining operations and management with Rio Tinto, including 10 years as General Manager, leading innovative programs of benefits-led change to achieve measurable growth in output and continual efficiency gains.After joining the Coal and Allied Operations division as a Planning Engineer I progressed through numerous operations management roles in Coal and Bauxite operations, before becoming a General Manager with Rio Tinto Iron Ore, working across the Pilbara region.In 10+ years’ as General Manager I led diverse teams to drive continuous improvement in capacity, efficiency, productivity and performance, whilst ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental management and community cooperation.At Paraburdoo I led the team to deliver record production rates for two consecutive years and achieved significant improvements in safety performance across the operation.As General Manager of Brockman Operations I led a multidisciplinary workforce of 2,500 employees and contractors to manage safe and efficient operations and maintenance for 4 mine precincts . With a strong focus on innovation and improvement, we achieved record production rates for 3 consecutive years, with concurrent improvements in safety performance and significantly enhanced productivity of individual assets.In my current role as General Manager of Mine Productivity for 16 mines across the Pilbara Region, I’ve embedded systems thinking and lean six sigma principles to identify and capitalise on business process improvement and value chain efficiency operations.
