When I worked in fast food, I didn’t just flip burgers, I became a manager. When I worked at the animal shelter, I didn’t just clean cages, I found an opportunity do in-house IT support. In my senior year of college, instead the capstone sequence that was standard for my major, I got permission to do independent study. For this I designed and built my own app. I got an A+. I seek out out challenges in any environment, because designing solutions is what interests me. I minored in mathematics because I like studying systems and models to find useful applications. This is a mindset I have found invaluable in the world of software development, where new tools are constantly being introduced. I am always looking for opportunities to find elegant solutions to complicated problems.
