My business partner, Mark Gehlbach, and I founded True North Advisors in 2000 as one of the first fee-based firms in the country with the belief that a fee-based, rather than commission-based, structure is the standard for truly unbiased investment advice.After graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Economics, I began my career at Chase Manhattan Investment Services, New York, where I was responsible for the day-to-day management of the new venture’s privately managed accounts and trading operations. I moved to Dallas with Chase and began working within a fee-based structure. While there, I was recognized as a top-ten producer in Chase’s national network. I later took a position at Lockwood Financial, the only independent advisory platform at the time. I knew the company represented the future of the industry and something I wanted to provide for my clients. Thanks to the experience and knowledge I gained from these roles, I left to start True North Advisors to offer my services in a fee-based, conflict-free environment. I feel strongly about the importance of advocating against conflicts of interest that compromise objectivity and transparency for the client.True North’s mission is Fulfilling Lives™, which I champion by shaping a team of advisors committed to understanding what matters most to each client, crafting holistic plans to meet their goals, and delivering on their promises.Locally, I am a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, and recently served as the 104th President during the 2023-2024 season, and Chairman of the Momentous Institute Board. Additionally, I am the Treasurer of the Tom Landry FCA Foundation and serve on the Long-Term Planning Committee for Park Cities Baptist Church. I am also a member of YPO Gold-Dallas and YPO Gold-Maverick. I value faith, family, and relationships, filtering all else through those priorities. When not working, I cherish time with my wife and three daughters. My passions include outdoor activities such as snow skiing, surfing, cycling, running, golfing, and boating, as well as giving back to the community and my church.
