Served as appointed actuary from 2004 - 2009 and 2017. Designed and implemented successful ORSA compliance for the US and Canadian entities. Moved the company's statutory reserve methodology from a "reported by client" model to a self-calculation model. This strengthened controls around statutory reporting and significantly reduced the risk of potential financial reporting errors.Engineered the balance sheet, through internal retrocession, to significantly reduce required capital for the US entities.Over time, implemented XXX reserve financing strategies which enabled the company to continue writing level term business. First, a letter of credit approach was used which reduced the cash strain of the business by $500m. Later, implemented a limited purpose subsidiary construct which enabled a return of over $1b in assets to the home office.Was active in lobbying efforts in conjunction with MARC's Chief Legal Counsel, the ACLI, and RAA. Successful efforts include provisions in the Dodd-Frank Act and the NAIC's principles based reserve system. Lead due diligence and transaction pricing on three major transactions/block purchases. -
