In this role I lead and supported my direct team as well as cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions. My expertise spans end-to-end product development, strategic planning, and vendor negotiation, all within the Scaled Agile Framework. Recently, I led a team to launch a national Android-based TV middleware for Bell Fibe TV, utilizing Jira, Confluence, and Miro to drive an MVP approach and achieve seamless, ongoing improvements.I’m passionate about mitigating risk, streamlining processes, and creating strategic visions that elevate customer satisfaction and drive business value. I provided strategic direction to propose a solution for C-level executives, effectively addressing an $18M capital write-down risk. By leading a team to execute this solution, we were able to control costs while retaining customer value. Additionally, I mitigated churn risk for over 1.2 million customers following a significant app removal, spearheaded initiatives for customer self-upgrades that reduced OPEX costs, and championed personalized product enhancements that gained executive backing. As a committed mentor, I prioritize developing and motivating my team, helping them exceed their goals and preparing them for future success.

  • Bell Aliant
    Senior Architect
    Bell Aliant Sep 2011 - Jan 2015
    Halifax, Canada Area
Responsible for the strategic planning, program direction as well as technical direction and business intelligence for Bell Aliant FibreOP IPTV. In my role I have led teams to vastly improve the cadence by which we added new content to our TV service, increasing our position in the marketplace to a level that equals or surpasses our major competitors. I led the expansion of our service to 2 additional provinces and many new communities achieved by building a plan that saw the addition of over 300 channels in 2 years to serve new communities within regulatory guidelines. I have supported the introduction of new IPTV services and participated in the planning, build and launch of key IPTV applications which better position our product against that of our cable competitors. I thrive on the advancement of our product continually look for opportunities to improve the product, making it the #1 choice for consumers who appreciate unsurpassed video quality and reliability. I supported Bell Aliant and Bell witnesses through both a CRTC hearing and a court challenge by a major Canadian telco, achieving a successful outcome in the court challenge which was recognized by our CEO and for which I received a CEO award.
  • Bell Aliant
Management Chair - Occupational Health And Safety Committee
    Bell Aliant Jan 2011 - Dec 2014
    Halifax, Canada Area
My responsibility in this role is to act as the company representative and to lead the OHS committee at the largest employee location and head-office.
  • Bell Aliant
    Senior Service Planner
    Bell Aliant May 2002 - Sep 2011
Responsible for Technology, Services and Planning related to Bell Aliant FibreOP and Bell Aliant TV, additional responsibilities span into ISP initiatives to support continued growth of Bell Aliant's DSL network. In this role I led the continued growth of our DSL products, increasing speeds across the board to challenge our competitors. I was very fortunate to lead a team in the development of the Internet service sold on Canada's first full city introduction of Fibre To The Home (FTTH) and also the introduction of Canada's fastest Internet in 2009, and within that introduction I built a process by which we trumped our competitor within an even faster speed when they followed suit with DOCSIS challenge soon after our launch. Within the scope of this role I also led a team in the introduction of a Shared Web Hosting platform and then a subsequent migration of over 200 business customers to this platform with no interruption of service to the customer's web presence. For this Shared Hosting project and migration I was recognized with an Aliant CEO award.
  • Aliant
    Team Lead - Server Operations
    Aliant Jan 2000 - May 2002
    Halifax, Canada Area
This role allowed me to relocate back to my hometown of Halifax, where I joined this team as a System Administrator and was promoted to Team Lead within 6 months of joining. My key accomplishment in this team was to introduce some standardize practices for server operations, change management and reduction of downtime. I also oversaw the transition of this team from a strictly one province focus to the integration into a larger merged Server Operations team under the newly merged structure of 4 companies becoming one. In that time we not only grew the scope of the system and application administrator roles for the team members, but we took on additional scope and grew the team. I also led the team in the modernization of our provisioning platform and the introduction of standardized practices for provisioning the eliminated manual overrides and increased new customer satisfaction. For my role in the introduction of the new provisioning system I was recognized by the Director of ISIT for Bell Aliant.
  • Bell Canada
    Manager - Sympatico Server Operations
    Bell Canada Oct 1996 - Jan 2000
In this exciting role I was recruited by the Director of Network Engineering at Bell Canada to move to Ottawa and join a small group of 6 system administrators supporting the newly formed Sympatico Internet Service, which at the time was a brand new national ISP and the first ISP to be formed by a Canadian Telco. This is the role in which I learned my craft, supporting a growing need for Canadians to get "online" and a rapidly growing server farm which saw us outgrowing and outpacing our server capacity in extraordinary short timeframes. I joined the team supporting DNS, Personal Web and TACACS Authentication and within a year I was the Manager of Server Operations, hiring and training system administrators. This was the job of a lifetime and it truly lit the fire in me for technology based consumer products, as this was a 24/7 ride that was part of the dot.com boom.
  • Government Of Canada
    Network Administrator
Government Of Canada Oct 1990 - Oct 1996
I was hired at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography for a dual role as mainframe operator and network administrator. In this role I used the tools of customer service I had acquired in a job in high-end men's clothing retail to build relationships and rapport with scientists researching in some of the most exciting projects of ocean and geographic science. Using these relationships I worked hard to get the labs connected to the newly formed Internet which was largely a research tool at the time, and I quickly become the go-to technology guy for some of the brightest and most educated minds of the country. I established the first DNS presence for dfo-mpo.gc.ca and worked as the DNS admin and regional e-mail administrator. I built the first network server-rack, procured and established the first bank of dial-up modems allowing scientists for the first time to remotely access their labs, data and perform research. As demand for connectivity grew I worked directly with Worldlink Communications (Bell Canada) to increase the available bandwidth into the Institute and interconnect regional DFO offices.
