With a reorganization into a true engineering group our titles were changed from Application Developer to Software Development Engineer. My work remain unchange for the most part. I took on the job of lead developer with no direct reports in 2001. This truly was one of the best jobs ever. I had the authority of a Lead with a team of developers to direct.

My official title would not change for nearly five more years but in reality I was an Application Developer on loan from PSS/CSS to MSIT.
