Kernersville Fire Rescue Department

Responsible for providing a quality learning experience for Forsyth Technical Community College students on a semester and continuing education basis. Report to the Department Chair and perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Subjects taught include: Fire Law, OSHA, Inspections and Codes, Fire Officer, Fire Control, Incident Management, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) / Personal Protective Equipment, Emergency Management, Volunteer/Combination Fire Department Management.

Manage a dedicated and professional group of employees and volunteers who provide services in fire, rescue, emergency medical, hazardous materials and other related situations. Report to and advises department Board of Directors on planning and improvements in service delivery. Prepare and administer department budget. Maintain fire department records for compliance with insurance standards, general statutes, department policies and related association requirements. Coordinate service delivery with the Town of Lewisville, Village of Clemmons and County of Forsyth. Work with outside agencies in service delivery. Attend trainings to maintain knowledge of developments in the fire and life safety services. Work closely with the public, community organizations and elected officials in the delivery of services and life safety education. Perform incident command, fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation, emergency medical care, and rescue.

Forsyth County Fire Marshals Office

Investigated fires to determine cause and origin; collected and preserved evidence; worked with law enforcement agencies in establishing cases. Worked closely with communities providing fire and life safety education. Responded to major fires and hazardous materials incidents in the county; provided technical and tactical advice to incident commander or assisted in suppression and/or mitigation. Inspected buildings to enforce compliance with the fire code. Reviewed building, sprinkler, fire alarm and tank installation plans for compliance with codes and standards. Conducted training programs and annual pump tests for county volunteer/combination fire and rescue departments.

Performed fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation, and emergency medical care and rescue services. Responsible for driving and operation of fire engine and aerial apparatus. Performed fire station and equipment maintenance. Delivered fire service training to shift personnel. Conducted pre-fire surveys, assisted with citywide fire inspections. Delivered fire and life safety fire education.
