Central Asia

• Launched a not for profit charity in the United States that worked to develop innovative, practical support and training solutions for organizations working with disabled children.• Member of the leadership team that was responsible for developing the mission and vision of the organization.• Consulted with various organizations and individuals regarding rehabilitation and disability, specifically within the context of Central Asia.• Worked to centralize disability resources for use by those in the network.• Acted as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of those with disabilities.

Tajikistan

• Managed a multi-million-euro project, funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which focused on providing care and rehabilitation for children with disabilities.• Responsible for managing over 25 local Tajik staff members, which included hiring, training, and professional assessment.• Opened a new rehabilitation clinic that provided rehabilitation services for children with disabilities.• Developed surveys, concept notes and proposals, budgets, and M&E processes.• Capacity development and training for partners and Ministry of Health staff.• Worked with local government, partner organizations, and international NGOs to coordinate and advocate for issues pertaining to disability and gender.• Responsible for leading round-tables, advocacy campaigns, and training sessions with government officials, partners, and the community at large.

• Registered a new non-governmental organization in Afghanistan.• Fundraised the initial start-up budget for the organization.• Provided vision, leadership, and general strategic direction for the organization.• Representation/coordination of activities with a range of stakeholders: NGOs; government officials; and local community leaders.• Launched a new program that provided rehabilitation services for children with cerebral palsy and their families.• Helped to recruit, screen, interview, and hire local and international staff.• Responsible for security in a highly volatile environment which included evacuations, kidnapping threats, riots, and indirect attacks.

Afghanistan
