Profile bio

About Scott Turner

I have spent most of my work life in the four walls of an office and on a keyboard in the IT industry with a focus on Microsoft technology. I've exited that life for now and have followed my passion for the rail industry and am working for Pacific National at their Enfield bulk depot in Sydney, NSW. Life is too short to die wondering and every day or night is a new adventure as a part of the train crew roster tasked as a driver assistant on freight trains in and around the metropolitan rail network and as far as Goulburn, Nowra and Orange.

Listed skills include It Strategy, Microsoft Technologies, It Management, Cloud Computing, and 8 others.

Trainee Locomotive Driver

Level Ii Trainee Driver

Strathfield, New South Wales, Australia

I have started with Railtrain as a Train Drivers Assistant, or a Trainee Locomotive Driver II, and contracted to work with Pacific National out of their bulk depot in Enfield. This is a complete career change for me and marrying my love of railways with an actual career path after many years working in IT. The driver assistant is second pair of eyes and ears on the track, keeping an eye on signals and an ear out for radio communications, as well as performing shunting, train preparation and inspections. Within time, I hope to be signed off as a fully qualified Train Driver in the rail freight industry.
