As a third generation contractor, I was raised in a time when your word was your bond and your handshake was your signature. I was conditioned from the time I was able to walk and talk to take over my family’s ENR 400 company - a billion dollar company in today’s dollars. When the time came, I took over an offshoot of the company, growing it from $10 million to over $21 million in today’s dollars, from negotiated contracts. As a frequent extension of our work with clients on negotiated contracts, we offered construction management services where we functioned as the direct representative of the owner throughout the planning, design and construction. At every turn, we emphasized the economies of time and money while paying strict attention to quality control.With over seventy years’ experience, the estimating process was refined to a high degree of accuracy. I’ve been able to build on that process utilizing today’s technology for even more accuracy, which translates to stricter adherence to schedules, budgets and workmanship. This assures the owner of quality construction at a reasonable cost. I left the construction industry for a time to explore other options but as the prodigal son returned home, so have I to see my passions of watching raw land become something and know I was a part of that process.
