I was asked to participate on the Chapter Executive of the Manitoba Chapter in 2008 and have served in various roles for over a decade.As Chapter Chair from 2012-15, I was fortunate to lead a great team of committed chapter executive directors to grow the membership from 80 to over 450 members by supporting the strategic goals and objectives of the national office and bringing first class director education to Manitoba including the ICD's flagship Director Education Program (DEP).The Manitoba Chapter continues to grow and support the corporate and nonprofit director community with over 750 local members in 2020.

My first career out of university was in radio broadcasting where I worked for some of the most creative and brilliant leadership in Canada's media industry. We were dominant in our respective markets because of a relentless desire to be absolutely world class at everything we did. Moffat Communications was an early adopter of satellite technology and mobile broadcasting with a stable of talent that dominated the market back in the day. The knowledge gained by working in an industry that must focus on a target demographic to generate a saleable audience for advertisers has proven invaluable over my career.Knowledge gained in my radio broadcast career also enabled me to build a campus radio station at the University of Manitoba as part of a business plan project required by the MBA program. The station (101.5 UMFM) launched and paid back its capital expenditure two years ahead of schedule and is financially stable to this day because of a low cost operating structure and creative location for the transmitter in downtown Winnipeg.
