About Scott Barta

I'm a software engineer who's worked on frontend, backend, and in between. I've done shrink-wrapped software, back when that was a thing, I've done desktop and web UIs and Android, I've done lots of server stuff, I even was the sole engineer on a web browser back before I knew enough to realize that's a thing that shouldn't be done. I've worked in industries from bioinformatics to consumer to infrastructure. I've worked at three of the FAANG companies. Yeah, yeah, you get the picture I'm sure. In terms of languages and such, some C/C++ I've forgotten, lots of Java, a smidgen of Scala, some Python and TypeScript. SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres) and NoSQL, lots of ElasticSearch. Too many UI frameworks to easily recall.I've done the individual contributor thing for a long time, really enjoyed doing more and more leadership, and now am stoked to be building up a company and engineering organization at Blended.Maybe more interestingly, I do other stuff. I'm a recording engineer with experience in live concert recording and small-scale studio albums and demos. I once recorded a real-live pipe organ in someone's house. I'm a jazz guitarist in training, and may always be in training, but that's for fun, not for profit.

The server was a straight-forward Web-based high-throughput storage and retrieval system for that data, and also provided some simple web-based analysis workflows for use without the client. The server was based on Spring/Hibernate/Tapestry/JiBX/Tomcat/Oracle. I did virtually all of the architecture and the lion's share of the implementation.
