Lead and managed the Information Technology department for a non-profit focused on developing and delivering education programs for children from pre-school through high school. Managed the network group, that included an internal help desk and the application development team. Worked with all departments within the organization to identify needs, offer suggestions, develop project plans and time tables. Managed all application development projects and worked with the Network Manager on all infrastructure projects ranging from security improvements, virtualization, backup solutions and disaster recovery.As a hands on Director was responsible for the architecture of all internally developed applications and integration with third party applications and external business partners. Handled the database design and object creation for all applications using Microsoft SQL 2008. Delivered a robust Intranet used for all business processing including sales management, contract management, production planning, time reporting, conference management, FAQ, news and discussion features and many more applications designed to improve operational performance. Created a customer portal used by schools to manage student information including a rich assignment tool used to track progress. Designed and created an online testing solution used by states across the country that generated several hundred thousand dollars of profit each year. An Extranet was used to streamline business processes with partners.

Joined the management team and together transformed the company from a local consulting collective to a recognized IT Services organization, providing web-based solutions, a content management product, professional consulting and integration services. Worked to build the organization from both the inside out, serving as COO and the outside in, serving as technical consultant. From the inside, instituted financial management, provided strategic direction and focus, defined service offerings and pricing, interviewed, hired and managed technical consultants and developers, organized human resources, enhanced benefits package, defined and implemented internal operations and controls, and established the internal development center. From the outside, as part of the sales and technical team, leveraged technical and business experience to meet and discuss client initiatives and their challenges. Fashioned solutions drawing from extensive technical background and exposure to a wide variety of businesses and their specialized needs. Wrote technical proposals and responses, including project plan, schedule and pricing.
