In 1998, after son was diagnosed with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, a “premature aging” syndrome”(Progeria), co-founded The Progeria Research Foundation, Inc. to find the cause, treatment and cure for Progeria. Serving as Board Chair since 2005.

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in 1993 and promoted to Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in 2009.

Provide direction in education and community services to all March of Dimes state-based chapters, plus DC and Puerto Rico. Chapter Programs include grants that fund community efforts to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Oversee national initiatives that are implemented in communities, such as family support and professional development in neonatal intensive care units, Mobile Health Care, and Healthy Babies Are Worth the Wait, a community collaboration that focuses on preventable preterm birth. Editor and Co-Author of “Toward Improving the Outcome of Pregnancy III: Enhancing Perinatal Health Through Quality, Safety and Performance Initiatives”. Serve on the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Perinatal Pediatrics.

Served as a Special Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Transportation.

Medical Director, Pediatric Trauma Services Provided Supervision at a large academic/urban emergency department (40,000 pediatric visits/yr); supervised and trained pediatric, emergency medicine, family medicine, and surgery residents, as well as medical and paramedic students.
