I have been blessed with over 45 years of foodservice background... of which the last 34 years with a sales agency/brokerage that initially built lines around school foodservice manufacturers. Very early in my sales career, I was charged with working with several distributors that bid and serviced many regional school systems. When starting to call on these schools, the desire to know what products the directors and managers were looking for in feeding our youth increased. In seeking to know more about school foodservice and the issues and challenges, wanting to know more, I understood the national and local regulations and the challenges in feeding the Children.Being blessed with several patient Directors,they fueled me with more desire to help. The result was success in helping Directors to leverage their commodities with first time ever with further processing and launching many new items the kids enjoyed.With this success I became involved with several manufacturers thru their advisory boards and served multiple times on the TN School Nutrition association industry board. K12 Foodservice has evolved their purchasing thru consolidations with cooperative associations or contracting their purchasing with buying groups. This has opened more opportunities with distributor business management. I find gratification in seeing new product placements and seeing happy customers with successful new additions!
