I have spent my career at the intersection of mental health, communities and education, pioneering programs that improve access to social-emotional services and create opportunities for students to reach their full potential. Recently responsible for overseeing a portfolio of $30 million dollars in mental health programs and services for New York City public schools, I have facilitated the expansion in NYC by increasing access to mental health services, and promoting consultation, treatment, and support to 1.2 million children and families across the 1,800 schools.I have pioneered programs, models and concepts that have built capacity for schools and communities to address the mental health issues of youth. These prevention and treatment strategies includes a public health approach to Community School Mental Health, the first School Mental Health Consultant Program, Screening The At Risk Student (STARS) for school nurses, and one of the first Sibling Programs for young people with medically fragile brothers and sisters in the country. Never without my clinical background as a psychoanalytic-psychotherapist, I have advanced innovative ways of integrating a clinical lens to support staff by creating unique concepts: The School As Client™, Real Time vs. School Time ™, The Imaginary Student ™. Each of these focuses on specific collaborative techniques and skills for positive outcomes when confronted by complex systems.My passion has taken me around the country with close to 100 presentations and meetings with government officials spanning the globe including youth, education and universities, and other public entities looking for guidance on strategies connecting treatment and resources in their educational systems. It has and will always be my aim of leaving the world a little better than when I began. This is what I do.

Conduct performance reviews and evaluations. • Oversee the implementation of the School Mental Health Consultant Program serving 900 schools to promote, assess, and link services to school communities and their youth.• Designed and implemented mental health interventions for the 130 Community Schools and 49 High Needs Schools in order to assess school’s needs, map gaps in services, and implement mental health interventions in a 3-tiered model of Universal, Selective, and Target interventions.• Oversee the 100 Schools Project creating greater access to mental health interventions, reducing stigma of mental illness, provide consultations to identify, approach, and refer students who are suffering from psychological stress. • Promoted the creation of Screening the At Risk Student - designed for Nurses to identify and refer students with suicide ideation and depression.• Co-created and support the School Response Team serving 29 schools that offer linkages to supportive resources, consultation and rapid crisis response. • Work with key DOE staff to integrate school mental health service programs . Establish priorities for new programs. Recommend ways to improve linkage across systems and propose all overall cost effective school mental health plans. Serve as point person for mental health initiatives and participant in key city and statewide initiatives. Identify the gaps in the existing programs and models and make recommendations of ways to address the gaps.
